The Goddards have arrived safely to Paraguay! We left Sanford, Florida on Friday, November 8th at 5am for Miami, had a wonderful trip with no problems, and arrived home to Paraguay on Saturday, November 9 at 4am. We praise the Lord for our Paraguayan friends, who were at the airport to pick us up in our truck and gave us a warm “Welcome Home”.
On Saturday and Sunday, we unpacked our duffle bags, which we were surprised to find out that there was only one thing missing – Lea’s black “high heel” dress shoe from the one bag that was opened by airport security. Then, on Monday, we went to get a few things that we had left at a local mission organization, only to find out that a child’s bike, stereo, and 5 of Lea’s toys (3 Barbies and 2 stuffed animals called “FurReals”) were stolen during a recent robbery. Thankfully, these items are replaceable, and we were again reminded that material possessions are not that important. We praise the Lord that our home was well taken care of by our Paraguayan pastor and family; our vehicles are fine; and all the rest of our things are ok.
The most shocking thing for Kaleb was to walk into our home at 4am and see it empty and not like the “home” he remembered. Once I got his comforter on his bed, rehung the curtains, and rearranged the living room, he said, “It feels much more like home.”
The last three days, we have been taking care of cell phone plans, car insurance, house insurance, errands, learning about Free calling to USA as well as text messaging, and buying our children an early Christmas gift – a puppy, whom we have called “Ocho” (means “8” in Spanish and he is named this, because the number 8 is on his back).
During the next two weeks, we will be looking for medical insurance, making dentist appointments, visiting with friends, laying out our year-end calendar as well as begin our 2014 calendar, make a two day trip South for a friend’s birthday party, attend (and Mike will photograph) a wedding for Paraguayan friends, and much more. We will be sure to keep you updated through email, but if you have Facebook, please be sure to follow Mike, Trisha, and our ministry page, where we share more day-to-day activities as well as photos.
Thank you to those who prayed for our trip to Paraguay. We praise the Lord how smoothly it was. Please pray for wisdom in our ministry and as we reconnect with our team here: John and Barb ; Bjarne and Rosalba; and Cipriano and Carmen.
We now have a USA number, which does not cost us anything to receive a phone call from you! If you would like this number, please send us a message.
